Old Spaghetti Factory in Arden
Old Spaghetti factory finally moved into Arden. We've gone for years to the J Street Railroad location and a couple of times to the spacious Rancho Cordova one. But we were looking forward for sometime for the Watt Ave location ever since we heard it was moving into the building that hosted Farrell's Old Fashioned Ice Cream. Some people were sad to see Farrells go but we were overjoyed OSF moved in.
While we weren't first in when it opened it was still very new inside. A little bit weird to have the vintage furniture and flair to be looking so fresh. The location seems a bit tight inside but the food was wonderful as ever. Dig that spumoni for dessert.
Fox & Goose
Driving home one day I noticed a sign at some just recently built buildings occupy the old site of TGI Fridays near the Howe Ave at Fulton intersection. Three restaurant are going in right next to Buca Di Peppo.
The one that jumped at me was Paris Baguette. Sounds Frenchy Oui. So after a quick online search I realized they were a chain(go figure) and had a few locations in the SF Bay Area. Since we were going to the Bay Area anyway I though we' check out the place. Find out more here.
It delivers. Wow I'm ready for the Sacramento grand opening with baited taste buds. My wife and I went to a location in Burlingame of the Penninsula below SF and this place was cool. White subway tile all over with wood accents and the employees wearing Frenchy striped shirts and Berets. It was a cool hip bistro where for the most part you can serve yourself. it had a grab and go area for savory and a few racks for cold drinks and dessert cups while you had to order drinks at the counter where you pay.
The piece de resistance was something that reminded us of a Las Vegas confectionery buffet. Two rows of so many sugary treats it was a spectacle just to behold as our mouths dropped and salivated at the same time. Of course my eyes were bigger than my diabetes system so I grabbed too much ready for the coma.
Loved this place and can't wait till it actually opens in Sac. So consider this post reconnaissance and get ready for your sugar rush when the doors open.
Find Paris Baguette online here.
The wife and I used to enjoy going to Le Baux Bakery on Folsom BLVD for breakfast. They tweaked their presentation and food and eventually closed in a bit of a Restaurant Shell Game. The concept is now alive inside the La Bou on Howe Ave. It's a bit of a mix but mostly La Bou with the Le Baux food. The new owner who also owns the La Bou is trying to figure the new Le Baux concept out and is keeping it alive.
Sans drama it's the old La Bou with a bit of Les Baux which is good. Can't wait for the full concept to come to fruition. Till then the Wife & I wiill have to keep dropping by for the Croissant bread pudding waiting for the next pastry to drop in Les Baux's growth.
