Estelle Bakery and Patisserie is now finally open on Arden Way. We've been waiting patiently for like Two Years but they finally opened their doors. We went opening day 1/13 to sample the limited supply of goodies and check the space. Then we went back on the 28th when they had more things ready to be consumed.
Very neutral white but the bakers put on a show behind the glass. Still a wok in progress even as they push forth with another location in that hip DOCO.
Tis that Season in which most everyone seems distracted by the holidays and family and consumerism. Well it's also that time of season where this website takes a nap till the New Year. We thank each and everyone of you for stopping in and checking out what is going on in Sacramento this Weekend. Well it's nap time here. See ya next year............
My wife and I love Apple Hill. Especially minus the crowds. My favorite time to be in Apple Hill is when there is snow on the ground and the fires pits are lit to get cozy in front of. My second favorite is after a rain. This weekend the rain was on and off but we managed to get there while it was dry but it wasn't that way for long. Extra coolness from the whisps of clouds and fog.
We here at Sactopia.com are going to take a little breather. No it's not a permanent thing or a self timeout from the internet. We will be posting less in the blog area as all our extra time and energy is now focused on selling our old home outside of Chico. Lots of work to get done and make purty.
Old Spaghetti Factory in Arden
Old Spaghetti factory finally moved into Arden. We've gone for years to the J Street Railroad location and a couple of times to the spacious Rancho Cordova one. But we were looking forward for sometime for the Watt Ave location ever since we heard it was moving into the building that hosted Farrell's Old Fashioned Ice Cream. Some people were sad to see Farrells go but we were overjoyed OSF moved in.
While we weren't first in when it opened it was still very new inside. A little bit weird to have the vintage furniture and flair to be looking so fresh. The location seems a bit tight inside but the food was wonderful as ever. Dig that spumoni for dessert.
Shine Coffee is a nice little spot. Kind of area hub and amalgamation of coffee culture. Want board games shure, trivia ok, live music we do that. Beer. Wine. Samosas? Tremendous at nothing but great all around.
We do enjoy the jazz jam nights.
Starbucks' Pink Drink
So I heard there was a new drink n town. It was spreading in social media and the news. It looked interesting not just because it was Pink. Iced tea with coconut water and freeze dried fruit. I had to try it. Certainly a tasty concoction that soon disappeared but the freeze dried fruit was a bit weird going down. You gotta try it. The Pink Drink at Starbucks
Crocker Art Museum
As Bank of America card holders my wife and I get into museums for free the first full weekend of the month. So we made a quick trip to the Crocker to see the new exhibits they rotated in. But, i posted below one of our old favorites. It's a light display tucked into a stairwell that is mesmerizing to watch as the art moves. But, I wonder how many people actually see it being tucked into a stairwell and all. So maybe it's new to you.
